Filipina In Kuwait Rescued After Employers Allegedly Broke Two Billiard Sticks On Her Back And Rubbed Salt On It

A Filipina worker in Kuwait escaped from her abusive employers who allegedly broke two billiard sticks on her back and rubbed salt on it. She was rescued by the Philippine Embassy in Kuwait.

Filipinos aim to go abroad and work for a living. It is a tough decision to make, leaving their loved ones back in the Philippines. Overseas Filipino Workers strive harder by getting themselves accustomed to the environment they’re in. Adapting to the culture, lifestyle, and work with a diversity of people.

A post on social media site had led to the rescue of the distressed OFW (Mae) in Kuwait. It was mentioned that she was beaten by her employers and was only allowed to eat once a day. Her passport and her cellphone have been taken from her employers and is being monitored. Teddy Locsin Jr. (Foreign Affairs Secretary) had posted on twitter that assigned Brigido Dulay (Foreign Affairs Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Concerns) to assist the victim.

The agency and her handler are aware of her current situation and did not do anything because the employer is threatening the victim with false allegations. The post had also notified the Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA), Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA), and Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA).
