Despite the repercussions of the “Corona” pandemic, and the precautionary measures it has imposed, random markets still continue to make brisk business away from the eyes of the concerned authorities, reports Al- Seyassah daily. The situation at these markets, which flourish in places such as the Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh, has reached a dangerous level because the buyers and sellers appear least concerned about the pandemic because it is very easy for someone to get infected with various types of contagious diseases which can be easily transmitted. A field tour conducted by the Al-Seyassah daily to a random market in Jleeb Al-Shuyoukh revealed the catastrophic situation.
The matter does not stop at the unusual crowding but the manner in which some of the goods are sold which at first look appears unfit for human consumption due to the poor quality. The goods are sold without supervision or the slightest controls and guarantees of their validity, especially food commodities that are displayed on stalls and sometimes on the ground and most often than not covered with dust and bacteria and various harmful microbes.
Neglect in these markets has exceeded the limits of imagination, as the food commodities, including vegetables and fruits, are sold next to the garbage bins. Such ugly and unhealthy scenes no longer stop anyone – sellers or shoppers – from such random markets mushrooming in the area.
