Kuwait is stepping up vaccination efforts with a new consignment (third shipment) of AstraZeneca-Oxford vaccine expected to arrive tomorrow (Wednesday) even as Pfizer vaccination batches continue to arrive weekly Arabic daily Al Rai reported.
The campaigns for vaccinating workers in cooperative societies, estimated at 30,000, is also expected to be completed tomorrow (Wednesday), as also the completion of the vaccination of about 5,000 imams and muezzins, through the 10 mobile units in various governorates.
The number of those vaccinated has touched 800,000 even though daily infection figures are gradually stabilizing, the ministry of health is sparing no efforts to bring the numbers down by increasing vaccinations and implementing strict protocols that avoid gatherings as well as introducing a partial curfew in the country since more than a month.
The Council of Ministers, in its regular meeting chaired by HH Prime Minister Sheikh Sabah Al-Khaled, also listened to an explanation by the Minister of Health Sheikh Dr. Basil Al-Sabah on the developments of the epidemiological situation based on the statistics that confirm the high numbers of injured, deaths and treatment recipients in intensive care, explaining the seriousness of the situation and the importance of speeding up the vaccination process.
