MP Hassan Jawhar asked Minister of Defense Sheikh Hamad Jaber Al-Ali and to Minister of Justice and Minister of State for Nazaha Enhancement Abdullah Al-Rumi about the rumors spread on social media and other media platforms that the Amiri Diwan sent a letter to the Judicial Committee at the Ministries Court stating HH the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah was aware of the suspicious remittances mentioned in the Kuwait Army Fund lawsuit involving former Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak and other senior officials.
Jawhar pointed out that since former Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defense the late Sheikh Nasser Sabah Al- Ahmad referred the violations of Kuwait Army Fund to the Public Prosecution on Nov 14, 2019; and since HH the late Amir Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah passed away on Sept 29, 2020 – eight months after referring the file to the prosecution, he asked the following: Total amount of suspicious remittances and embezzled funds in the lawsuit involving former Prime Minister Sheikh Jaber Al-Mubarak and other senior officials.
Did the Amiri Diwan send any letter in this regard to the judicial panel at the Ministries Court, Public Prosecution or other concerned institutions from Nov 14, 2019 to Sept 29, 2020? If yes, the lawmaker demanded for copies of these letters. Did the Amiri Diwan send any correspondence to the aforementioned institutions after Sept 29, 2020? If yes, Jawhar demanded for copies of these correspondences.
He also asked Minister of Finance and Minister of State for Economic and Investment Affairs Khalifa Hamada about the bank accounts registered by the Office of the Prime Minister or special expenditures of the Prime Minister from 2012 to 2018 in and outside the country. He wants to know if the bank accounts are official or personal, beneficiary institutions or individuals, date of opening the bank accounts, who is managing these accounts, and if these accounts are subject to the rules of monitoring institutions. National Assembly Speaker Marzouq Al-Ghanim praised the speech of His Highness the Amir Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah on the occasion of the last 10 days of the holy month of Ramadan. Al-Ghanim said His Highness the Amir highlighted the most difficult challenges that Kuwait is currently facing, on top of which are strengthening security and ensuring stability.
He affirmed that His Highness the Amir sent a clear message when he emphasized he will never allow anyone to manipulate the stability of Kuwait. He added His Highness the Amir specified the ways to maintain social and political stability by strengthening social unity, cooperation between authorities, peaceful dialogue, democracy and rejecting the causes of crises. He pointed out that the warning of His Highness the Amir against paying attention to rumors spread on social media is essential and reflects His Highness’ keenness to avoid anything which targets the stability of the nation.
He said a part of the speech of His Highness the Amir addressed the youths, because they play a vital role in realizing the aspirations of the nation; taking into consideration that they are the cornerstone of sustainable development. He then implored Allah to protect Kuwait, His Highness the Amir, His Highness the Crown Prince Mishal Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah and the people of Kuwait.
In another development, MP Abdullah Al-Turaiji forwarded queries to Minister of Interior Sheikh Thamer Ali Al-Sabah about the recent ministerial decision to allow expatriates, who violated the Residency Law, to rectify their status. He wants to know the number of violators who have not rectified their status and are still in Kuwait, their nationalities, and measures taken against them and their sponsors.
